OCMS Committees


The Committees of the Oklahoma County Medical Society are responsible for the majority of the activities and functions of the Society. A survey is mailed to the membership in June, and committee selections are made by the OCMS President-Elect in December. All members are encouraged to volunteer to serve on one or more of these committees by faxing the survey, 843-9610.

A brief explanation of the scope of the responsibility of each committee is listed below:

Community Health Committee

  • Public Health Activities & Projects
  • Promote Health Careers - Public School Science Fairs
  • Promote Relationship with Volunteer Health Organizations
  • Develop an ongoing interaction with physicians to secure commitment to provide medical care for low income/no income patients through established community clinics or accepting a certain quota of patients on an in-office basis
  • Oversee OCMS-sponsored "Open Arms Free Clinic"

Constitution & Bylaws Committee

  • Review and update OCMS Constitution & Bylaws

Editorial Board

  • Advisors and Contributors to the OCMS Bulletin

Emergency Medical Care Committee

  • Maintain & Update OCMS Emergency Guidebook
  • Liaison to Oklahoma City Emergency Operations Center/City/County Civil Defense and Ambulance Service
  • Review Disaster Plans for Area Hospitals and Will Rogers Airport

Members and Public Relations Committee

  • Items pertaining to this subject matter will be addressed by an ad hoc committee appointed by the president.

Quality of Care Committee

  • Review, on request, aspects of appropriateness and/or quality of medical care rendered by Oklahoma County Physicians
